5 reasons not to buy a Galaxy S7

After the launch of a new smartphone, the question always arises whether it is worth buying or not. With Samsung's Galaxy S7, the subject is no different, especially when compared to the Galaxy S6 or the S6 Edge.

Of course, after listing the biggest reasons for you to buy the Galaxy S7, we could not help but mention some reasons why it is not worth it. To learn more, just check out our article below!

1. If you already have a good smartphone

Of course, our current smartphones always look bad when new releases come out that the media insists are far better than anything we've ever seen. The truth is that depending on the device you already have, it may not be worth the investment to purchase the Galaxy S7.

Unless your device is already really lagged, having problems, or a very old model, there are not so many reasons to switch. Other than that, it is always a risk to buy smartphones at launch, considering that they can have serious problems or even decrease in price in a few months.

2. There are cheaper smartphones

If you really want or need to switch smartphones, there is something you need to consider: there are far cheaper handsets than the Galaxy S7 out there. You can now find it in the range of $ 3, 800, a very high price when you can buy a very good model from LG, Motorola or Xiaomi for less than 2, 500.

Also, always keep in mind that it is more advantageous to buy a smartphone that has the features you will really use every day than simply getting a powerful and very expensive handset.

3. Cost benefit

This brings us to another extremely important factor, the cost-effectiveness of the Galaxy S7. Although it is very powerful and has interesting specifications, the real appeal of the device is its design and not necessarily what it is capable of.

It is up to you to decide if it is worth paying more for a prettier smartphone or if it is worth saving a bit and buying a really efficient and fair price handset. The LG G5, for example, offers a more normal look, but has similar hardware to the S7, has a larger screen and can even be easily connected to external keyboards, cameras, speakers and virtual reality devices. All this for $ 100 less than the Samsung smartphone.

4. If you want to stay updated

When it comes to operating system upgrade, Android still has a lot to learn from Apple. While Steve Jobs' old company does its best to make recent versions of iOS available for most existing iPhones and iPads, Android generally only releases updates for a few devices.

Of course the situation is different, after all, there are few models of Apple smartphones and tablets out there, while there are hundreds of different devices that use Android as their operating system. Thus, it is difficult for Google to develop a perfect system that will work on any device, but it is ridiculous the number of smartphones compatible with Android Marshmallow, for example.

So if you want to stay up to date in future cases (with Android N and its successors), it is best to purchase a Nexus line device, which always gets new versions of Android for years and before everyone else. Our indication in this case is the Nexus 6P, which besides being $ 200 cheaper than the S7, also brings some more interesting features.

5. Galaxy S6 may be more worthwhile

If you really like the Galaxy line, there is an even better option: the Galaxy S6 itself. Now that its successor has finally been launched, it is only natural that its price will drop sharply in stores and be far more worthwhile than the Galaxy S7.

The truth is that there were no significant changes between one device and the other, and the Galaxy S6 is still a very current smartphone and with plenty of power to offer. Since it has been around for over a year, there are also advantages to knowing what potential problems it may offer. Also, since the design of the S6 is virtually identical to the S7, it will be hard for anyone to notice the difference.
