6 differences between Moto G4 and G4 Plus
It seems that not only Apple saw the advantages of launching two different versions of the same smartphone model on the market. Recently, Lenovo (the new owner of the Motorola brands) launched the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus - with a full range of applications for both - with the intention of attracting consumers with different needs. Of course it can be hard to know what the two are different about, so we've come up with a neat list to make you even more informed. Learn more about Moto G4 and G4 Plus below!
1. Fingerprint sensor
We have already started our list with the biggest difference between the two devices: the presence of the fingerprint sensor in the G4 Plus and its absence in the normal G4. Although many smartphones do not yet have this feature, it is proving increasingly useful in ensuring the safety of its users.
If you are very concerned about this and prefer more privacy and tranquility, we recommend that you choose G4 Plus. If it doesn't matter that much to you or you don't think it's worth the price, the normal G4 should still do just fine with the old Android security measures. One thing to consider is that a number of applications and features are beginning to implement the fingerprint option. All to ensure more security and privacy for the user even if their phone is unlocked in some way.
This means that even your messaging apps can start being fingerprint blocked, not allowing curious friends or family members to see your conversations, for example. If that's attractive to you, it's worth considering a mode with the built-in print sensor.
2. Camera
If you like to take pictures with your phone, this aspect can define the version you should buy. Although the Moto G4's 13 megapixel camera is very good, it can't compete with the G4 Plus's 16 megapixel camera. Especially if we consider that the camera of the G4 is exactly the same as we saw in last year's model.
At least on the front both have identical 5 megapixel cameras. So if you really like selfies more, it may not make that much of a difference.
3. Design
As a matter of general design, the two handsets are exactly alike, something that can surely annoy some consumers. Lenovo probably made this decision not to make its customers choose a model just because they think it looks better.
While this actually avoids this problem and makes users focus more on smartphone hardware, it would be interesting if they had slightly different looks.
4. Storage and RAM
While Moto G4 only comes with 2 GB of RAM, you can choose between 2 and 3 GB of RAM in G4 Plus. Just keep in mind that the 3 GB version won't necessarily be available at any store out there, so it's always wise to check carefully at the time of purchase.
This difference allows the G4 to work smoother, especially with multiple tasks at the same time. Another variant only present in G4 Plus is that it can only be purchased with 32 GB of internal storage, while the normal G4 has only 16 GB.
5. Processor
Incredibly, the technical aspects of G4 and G4 Plus in terms of processing power change at all. Both devices feature a Snapdragon 617 processor running at 1.5 GHz and an Adreno 405 GPU.
One would expect something better on the G4 Plus, but even the amount of RAM is exactly the same on both models: 2 GB. So if it is the power of the smartphone that interests you, you will not see a big difference between the two.
6. Price
In terms of price, as expected, the G4 Plus is slightly more expensive than the normal Moto G4. Still, you can find both for an affordable price. Currently, you can buy the G4 for just over 1, 100, while the G4 Plus is usually over $ 1, 300.
In this case, it is simply up to you to know if the few extra aspects of G4 Plus are worth 200 reais for your daily need. If you're interested in the slightly better fingerprint sensor and camera, it might be a good idea to shell out the extra money. Still, the fact that the screen size is the same turns out to be a shame.
