6 tips on what to do if your smartphone screen breaks

In recent years, the display really seems to have become the most important part of smartphones, which has made them also occupy most of the body of modern handsets. Of course, this eventually increased the fragility of the devices and the number of broken or cracked screens out there. If this also happened to you, you don't have to despair about your smartphone screen, as there are many ways to handle and fix it. To learn more, just check out our tips below!

1. Refer to manufacturer

In general, the warranty on smartphones does not cover breakage of the display, as this is almost always due to improper or careless use of the user and not to manufacturing defects. Still, there are always some exceptions in certain cases. If your smartphone screen has broken by default, search the Internet to find out if it is a recurring feature of your smartphone and contact the manufacturer to see what can be done.

This has occurred in situations where certain smartphone models get very hot and end up with a cracking screen when a sudden change in temperature occurs. Of course, we are talking about very light cracks occurring internally that cannot be confused with a smartphone that has fallen to the ground, so don't try to fool the manufacturer as they know the differences well.

A good tip for those who had the smartphone screen broken by carelessness is to contact the manufacturer, but for different reasons. If so, this is a good way to know better what to do with your specific smartphone model, as some companies offer simpler solutions to deal with it.

2. Use a protective film

If you cannot immediately tidy up your smartphone screen, we recommend placing a protective film on the display as soon as possible. It may seem silly if you take into account that it is not worth protecting a screen that is already broken, but this is a way to ensure your safety and comfort.

After all, you can hurt your fingers by continuing to use a fully cracked screen and still risk having pieces of glass falling on you or the floor without you noticing. To avoid this, wipe the screen carefully and apply the desired film (may be the cheapest ones).

3. Fix it yourself

We know that repairing a broken screen can be very expensive, which means that many people prefer to have a cracked smartphone instead of having to change the display. If this is your case, we suggest you search your phone model to see if you can replace your smartphone screen on your own.

This is usually possible and can easily be done if you are very careful and follow the necessary steps. We recommend that you watch detailed tutorials and purchase the right tools to get the process done correctly. As much as you spend buying a new canvas and certain materials, it will still be far less than in an official repair.

4. Seek technical assistance.

If you have the possibility to seek authorized service, this may still be the best alternative. Although not very cheap, you will be leaving your smartphone with people who understand what they are doing and will return it in perfect condition.

In general, you can find good service listed on your device manufacturer's website, which also ensures professionals who know exactly how to handle your phone model.

5. Go to a local repair shop

If you don't have any authorized service near where you live or prefer a more affordable alternative, you can still go to a regular repair shop in your area. In general, you will have a similar service but without so many guarantees.

Therefore, we suggest you only do this if you really trust the service of the store in question. Also be aware of the type of canvas that is used to replace the old one, so you avoid paying more for less material than the original.

6. Purchase the part separately

In some cases, you can buy a screen individually just to replace the broken part of your smartphone. This applies specifically to cases where only the glass of the device has been broken.

In such cases, you can exchange the glass part yourself, but it is more advisable to have the unit serviced if possible. The repair itself should not be that expensive, especially if you already have the replacement part ready.
