The 7 Most Common Nexus 5 Problems and How to Solve Them

Google's line of Nexus smartphones and tablets is one of the most popular and currently used in the mobile market. Although not all devices in this line are available in Brazil, the Nexus 5 ended up quite successful here, as well as its predecessor, the Nexus 4.

They are especially adored for being one of the only devices to have pure Android, ie the system developed exactly as Google intended it, without outside interference from manufacturers like Samgung, for example. This makes the Nexus experience always fluid and unblocked, and the handsets are relatively cheaper than the competition.

But not even the best devices are fail-safe, and even the Nexus 5 suffers from some minor problems. If you have one of these amazing devices at home and have had some inconvenience with it, just check our list of some of the most common Nexus 5 issues and how to solve them easily!

1. Irregular audio quality

If you notice that your Nexus 5 has uneven sound quality in different applications, it may be a problem caused by the system version of Android or the applications in which you notice the problem.

To fix it, try upgrading your Android version and doing the same with problematic apps. Another thing you have to do is go to your default music player (Google Music) and click on the settings. There you will see the "Equalizer" option. Click on it and enable the feature, which should increase the sound quality.

If after making all these adjustments the problem still persists, it may be a failure of the device itself. In this case, take it to an authorized service facility.

2. Problems with the camera

It is really quite common to have problems with the Nexus smartphone camera. Be it because of the difficulty in maintaining the camera's focus, the delay in taking a picture and even the loss of image quality. That happens to you, no worries, it's not the camera itself that's having a problem, but the default photo-taking app that comes with it.

While Google doesn't fix it, there is a way to not have to suffer from the problem: just download other photo apps! If you want suggestions, just read our article about 15 amazing photo-taking apps on Android.

3. Wi-Fi Disconnecting

It's very annoying when we are doing something on the internet from our smartphone and the Wi-Fi signal simply drops. At first glance, it may seem like the problem is with your internet or router, but unfortunately many Nexus 5 users have realized that this is a problem with their own handsets.

The simplest solutions we can recommend if this starts to happen to you is to restart your device or leave “Airplane Mode” on for a few minutes. If that doesn't work, go to the Wi-Fi settings and choose the "Advanced" option. There, click on “Wi-Fi Frequency Band” and choose between “5 GHz Only” or “2.4 GHz Only” instead of “Automatic”.

4. Problems with the screen

Some Nexus 5 users have already complained about dead spots in the middle of the screen (also known as dead pixels), which is when a dot or even a line of the screen goes black, for example. This is usually due to defects at the time of manufacture.

If this happens to you, have it replaced if it is still under warranty or have it authorized by your dealer.

5. Half-loose power button

This can happen not only on Nexus 5, but on Nexus 4. If you find that sometimes the power button doesn't work as it should or even make a little noise when you shake your smartphone, it may be a little loose.

Again, this is a manufacturing problem and you should ask to replace the device if it is still under warranty or have it serviced.

6. Battery running out too fast

It's normal for smartphone batteries not to last long, but if your Nexus 5 is running out of power too fast, it could be a real hardware problem.

First, go to your settings and select the "Battery" option. There you will see which applications are consuming the most load. Take a test and see how the battery performs in a day without much use and if the problem persists, you will need to take the device for service.

7. Strange vibration of the device

Everyone knows how smartphones vibrate during a call or when an alarm sounds, so if the vibration pattern of your Nexus 5 seems strange or irregular, you may have something wrong with the device.

You may notice this if the vibration gets too strong and too weak right away. The problem in this case may even be very serious and you should ask for a replacement if it is under warranty.

Looking like that, it looks like Nexus 5 is full of horrible problems, doesn't it? But don't worry, they would hardly happen to most users and rarely would you see more than one of them on the same device.
