1. Avoid numerous background apps

It's okay to leave some important apps running in the background, as this can even save you battery in many cases, especially when it comes to apps you tend to use too often.

The problem occurs when you leave virtually every app you open in the background all the time, as it consumes more resources and more RAM than your smartphone. Eventually this will slow down the fast warm up of the smartphone.

2. Avoid heavy activities for a long time.

You may have noticed that spending a lot of time playing heavier games on your smartphone makes it very hot. In fact, any app that requires the most processing power of the device will have this effect, which can be detrimental in the long run.

Our recommendation is not to stop playing or using certain apps, but to be aware of the time you spend with them. Use them for a while and take a 15 minute break when you notice that the device has begun to become very hot.

In these cases, you can even leave the app running in the background as it will use less energy when you return to activity.

3. Enable certain features only when using them.

Many people often leave Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G, GPS, and many other features on and on at the same time. We understand that this may be more practical when you want to use a function without having to activate it every time, but it also consumes a lot of battery and device resources.

This way, any light and simple task you are going to perform can already overload the phone and make it hotter and slower. Our tip is that you only plug in the features you are currently using, something that will surely help you and make your smartphone faster for any task.

4. Charge the device correctly

We know that at one time or another it is normal to touch the smartphone while it is charging, but this is not recommended and should be avoided whenever possible. Proper charging of a smartphone is one of the most important factors in ensuring that it works perfectly.

Also remember to always leave the device charging up to at least 95% instead of giving quick recharges all the time. Finally, use a quality charger and do not keep your smartphone covered by anything during the process as this may make it hotter than ever.

5. Keep brightness at proper level

While using your smartphone outdoors in bright natural light, it is common to let it shine higher so you can see what's on the screen. Still, it is highly recommended to leave the brightness level much lower whenever possible.

The more light is emitted from your device, the more power it will have to expend and the warmer it will become over time, especially while the screen is on.

6. Buy a quality cover

It may not seem like it, but the case you use to protect your smartphone from falls, scratches and bumps can also greatly contribute to its heating. Using poor-quality plastic or leather cases will suffocate your smartphone just as if you left it under the pillow, for example.

In general, slightly more expensive or branded covers offer much more protection and effective ways to keep your device cool.

7. Have an antivirus installed

It's always good to have an app to monitor your smartphone's overall activity, whether it's checking for newly installed apps or internally stored files. In addition to putting your information and data at risk, mobile phone viruses can also make your device use up more power and consume more resources.

Over time this will make the device slow and hot for no apparent reason. Antivirus applications can accurately identify any suspicious activity and remove any malware or threats that are corrupting the system. For more options, you can check our list of antivirus apps at this link.

8. Install a monitoring app

Finally, we also suggest that you install a performance and temperature monitoring app for your device. There are several specific applications for this, but one of the best is CPU Cooler, which you can download from this link.

It will always check which apps are using your processor most (especially if you don't have to), and you can more easily manage usage of smartphone features. Thus, you can find and close the heating source quickly.
