Apple Watch without iPhone: 11 Things You Can Do

Much of what you can do with your Apple smartwatch is only possible after you've synced it to your iPhone, including answering calls. Nevertheless, sticking to Apple Watch without iPhone does not mean that the watch has become unusable. Some of the most basic smartwatch functions can still be used, so you don't have to worry so much. Check out nine things you can do in this situation!

Tip: Want to know EVERYTHING Apple Watch can do? Then check out this list with 22 examples of cool device features!

1. Monitor your physical activity and goals

Two of the Apple Watch applications are completely independent of iPhone and even an internet connection. They are Exercise and Activity, native to Apple Watch. At first, you can usually monitor your performance in your training routine. The second allows you to compare training results and see if you are achieving your goals.

Especially for those who go to the gym, walk or do other types of exercise, be sure to incorporate the use of these apps to check if your body is okay and keep up with your routine.

2. The functions of a normal clock: display the time

Well, despite all the possibilities, a smartwatch is still a watch. So it would be weird if he needed to pair with the iPhone or a connection to show the time. In addition to setting the time, it also serves as a stopwatch and alarm clock.

Apple Watch has so many innovative and different features that it is sometimes normal to disregard its basic purpose as a wristwatch!

3. Listen to music

Using a Bluetooth headset or your own iPods, you can still listen to music on Apple Watch without iPhone. However, you must first sync a playlist before you can listen to them without an iOS phone nearby.

4. View photos

Like music, you need to sync a photo album with iPhone before you can see your photos on Apple Watch without iPhone. Once the process is done, you will be able to view them at any time.

5. Shop with Apple Pay

Even without iPhone around, you can use your credit card information stored on Apple Watch to make your purchases as normal. This is possible because the app creates a one-time access token stored on the clock that allows you to use it to make payments.

That is, not having the iPhone or a connection does not prevent you from paying for your purchases through the Apple Pay service, requiring only that the store has its reader. In addition, your digital wallet - the Apple Wallet - is also available on the watch, so any kind of scannable documents can be used directly from the display, such as electronic tickets or possibly plane tickets. Although it is still safer to use the printed version.

Note: The following items can only be done if Apple Watch is connected to a WiFi signal.

6. Send messages through iMessage

IMessage can be used normally as long as it is on a WiFi connection. The app's functionality does not change even if the phone is not nearby.

This will allow you to easily chat with your contacts directly from the watch interface. This is a pretty cool addition that could actually be able to eliminate the iPhone's need for communication at least.

7. Make WiFi calls

As with iMessage messaging, you can still make and receive calls via the “WiFi Connections” option. Just as we listen to music on Apple Watch, you must have a Bluetooth headset. Unless you have no problem with other people listening to your calls through the Apple Watch speakers.

8. Using Siri

Even without the iPhone, you can still use the Siri virtual assistant. All of its Apple Watch features can be used even without iPhone, such as sending iMessages or making internet calls, just by being connected to WiFi.

9. Use any other apps that only need WiFi

Any application that does not require iPhone interaction can be used normally if it only requires a WiFi connection. That is, although not as independent, it is still possible to perform different Apple Watch functions without iPhone. So don't despair if you remember to put your smartwatch on your wrist, but you forget your iPhone at home.

10. Update your apps

As long as you are connected to the Internet and using an Apple Watch OS2 (second generation or newer) model, you can update applications directly from the smart watch interface as they are now running on the device itself.

Unfortunately, on first generation models this is not possible as the Apple Watch OS1 is simply a display where the iPhone really runs and processes everything, sending only the results to the digital clock.
