How to block other people's Wi-Fi network on your PC

Anyone using Wi-Fi on their computer should have seen the countless other networks that always appear in the list of available connections. This is not so useful considering that you will never use them or that many of them may have inappropriate names especially for those with children at home. The good news is that it's quite easy to block any Wi-Fi network on your computer, preventing them from appearing in connection options. You can check out how to do this in our tutorial below!

Block other people's Wi-Fi network

To get started, you will need to know exactly what other people's Wi-Fi network name will block on your computer. To do so, you can click the Wi-Fi icon on the Windows taskbar, which will make a list of available networks appear.

With that done, it's time to open Command Prompt on your PC. You can simply search the program in the Windows search bar for this.

Now copy and paste the command below into the Command Prompt, but replace the “WIFI NAME” with the network name you want to block. Then press the Enter key to confirm the action.

netsh wlan add filter permission = block ssid = WIFI NAME networktype = infrastructure

Okay, the network in question will no longer appear on your PC. If you want to do this with other networks, just repeat the process described above and with the name of the connection.

If for some reason you want to reverse this procedure, you just have to go back to the Command Prompt and type the following command:

netsh wlan delete filter permission = block ssid = WIFI NAME networktype = infrastructure

Again, simply replace the “WIFI NAME” part with the name of the network you want to unlock and hit the Enter key to confirm the action. If the changes do not appear immediately, just restart the PC so that they can start working.
