How to free up to 1GB of space on iPhone and iPad

It may seem a bit of a joke, but some Apple device users have found that it is possible to free up to 1 GB of internal storage on iPhones and iPads. Of course, this is one of the greatest wishes of those with 16 GB and 32 GB storage devices, given the current ease of filling this space with apps, files and photos, for example. The good part is that doing this little trick is quite simple, as you can see in our tutorial on freeing up space on iPhone and iPad!

Freeing up space on iPhone and iPad

This trick was discovered a short time ago, but already thousands of users are taking advantage to get more space on iPhone or iPad. In this case, the procedure below has been tested by the “Observer” website and can be done without risk to your device, so you don't have to worry about performing it if you really need more storage.

To get started, go to your settings and select the "General" tab.

Click on the "Storage and iCloud" option to check how much space you have available on your device. Clicking on “Manage storage” will allow you to see which apps are taking up the most space.

In the above case, the device has just over 1 GB of space left. With that in mind, it's time to open the iTunes Store app and go to the movies section.

For this trick to work well, you need to choose a movie that is larger than the available storage. In this case, any movie larger than 1 GB should already do. One tip is to always take HD quality, and you don't even have to buy it, just rent it.

With the movie selected, click "Rent" and you will be warned that the file cannot be downloaded.

With that, we can go back to “Settings” to look at the internal storage of the device. Surprisingly, there are 400 more MB available after this procedure.

If it seems little, don't worry, it's doing this same process a few more times. After a few more attempts, the space doubled to 2.7 GB available.

If you notice, you will see that apps like Facebook will take up half of the space they were taking up before, without losing any performance at the time of use. Interesting, isn't it? It is only good to mention that there is also a space limit that can be achieved in this way, since there comes a time that the device no longer has where to take more storage.

Also note that you should always try to rent movies that are larger than your available space, otherwise the movie will actually be rented and you will have to pay the price.
