How to prevent Facebook Messenger from crashing
Facebook Messenger is undoubtedly one of the best chat apps to use on both Android and iPhone, but it doesn't let go of its flaws. One of the biggest problems these days is the total crashing of the app on certain occasions, which makes the user have to wait a while to use it. The situation is even worse when the application closes itself without warning because of these crashes, and it has to be restarted several times. The good news is that there are some steps you can take to prevent this crash of Facebook Messenger, as you can see below!
1. Do not use floating icons
Facebook Messenger's floating icons are one of the app's most exciting features, as it allows you to chat with your contacts while using other apps.
The problem is that it ends up demanding too much of your smartphone, something that can be complicated if the device is not so powerful. As you might imagine, this in itself causes crashes and app closure.
To disable this, just go to the application settings and click on the "chat icons" option.
2. Open links in browser
You may have noticed that links sent to you in Facebook Messenger open in an internal browser within the app itself. This is also practical, but it slows the app and can crash it on several occasions.
To prevent this from happening, try opening all links in your normal browser, such as Google Chrome or Firefox.
3. Turn off message previews
Finally, you can also use another handy and cumbersome feature: message preview. These previews basically show a portion of the messages you received from your contacts.
The problem is that your smartphone ends up getting full of these previews and this tends to crash the app in some situations. Fortunately, you can go to the app settings and click on the “Notifications and Sounds” option and then “Notification Previews”.
This way, you will only receive a simple notification that there are messages to be read in Messenger. In addition to making your smartphone cleaner, the operation of the app will greatly improve.
