How to record call audio on Android

As we said, unfortunately the call recording feature is not built into today's mobile phones, although it was already a feature of some older handsets. To enjoy and use this function, help from specific applications is required.

There are a lot of apps that do this kind of thing on Android right now, but to better exemplify this tutorial, let's use one of the most popular, Call Recorder. You can download this app on your Android by clicking this link.

With the app installed on your smartphone, we can proceed. When you first open the app, you'll have the option to sync the service with a Dropbox or Google Drive account, allowing your recorded calls to be saved directly to one of the cloud storage services.

You can also set the quality and volume of recorded calls, which is well advised to have very clear and easy to distinguish audio.

After this initial phase, you can also tweak other application settings if you prefer. In the general settings you can choose the type of format in which the audio of your calls will be recorded, for example. However, the most important thing about these settings is to define which calls will be recorded.

In the "Filters" option within the app settings you will have three options to choose from: "Save All", "Ignore All" and "Ignore Contacts". By default “Record All” will be selected and all your calls will be automatically recorded if you do not change anything.

The problem is that it will generate a lot of audio that you probably don't want or need. To record audio only from contacts you select, choose the "Mute All" option. The Ignore Contacts option will record audio from calls made from numbers not in your contact list and numbers specifically selected by you.

Once you choose the option that best fits what you need, the app is ready to go. You will know that a call will be recorded if you notice a red ball icon at the top of the screen, along with other notification icons, for example.

When you finish a call that has been recorded, you will receive an application notification notifying you of the procedure. As you check your new recordings, you can choose from several options for what to do with your audio.

You can save the audio, share it with others, delete it, add a note to the call in question, check that contact's call history, etc. The important thing is always to remember that these audios take up storage space on your phone, so the idea of syncing the app with a Dropbox account is not a bad idea if you decide to record a lot of calls.

If you like, you can also change your settings at any time to add more selected contacts to your app list or to change the format of recorded audio.
