How to Select a Companion Pokémon in Pokémon Go

In the latest Pokémon Go update, a new feature has been implemented to allow users to take one of their little monsters as a companion, which helps to accumulate experience points and candies that serve to increase fighting power. The new feature is now available with new egg-hatching monsters on Android and iOS devices and you can learn how to use it extremely easily with our tips below!

Selecting companions in Pokémon Go

First and foremost, you need to make sure the game is up to date, which you can check out directly from the Google Play Store or the App Store depending on whether you are running Android or iOS. With everything ready, open Pokemon Go on your smartphone to get started.

At the beginning of the game, click on your avatar icon at the bottom left of the screen.

You will see the status and achievements of your character in general. Then click the icon with three vertical dashes at the bottom right of the screen.

You'll see some options, but you have to click "Buddy" to select one of your little monsters as your mate.

The following screen will show you all the Pokémon you have stored in the game, but you can only choose one at a time. Click on the little monster you want to select it.

You will then see a confirmation screen by simply clicking on the little arrow to continue.

There, your mate will be properly selected and will appear along with your character until you change him, which can be done with the same procedure as described above.

As mentioned earlier, taking one of your Pokémon as a companion helps you make them stronger and gain items, such as candy for evolution and increased power.
