iPhone SE vs iPhone 6S: Which one is worth buying?
IPhone SE has barely been announced (you can get it now at this link!) And there are already thousands of people in the world thinking of purchasing the small new Apple smartphone. With older handset design and newer features, it's really hard to know if it's worth buying an iPhone SE or an iPhone 6S (which you can purchase from this link), for example. So that you have no more doubts and finally know which model best suits your needs, just check our comparison of the two!
In terms of design, the differences are very large between iPhone SE and iPhone 6S, literally even. We say this because the new handset is clearly a return to the classic format of Apple's smartphone, being virtually identical to the iPhone 5S.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 6S copies the design of the iPhone 6 with some refinements, especially in durability. For some, it was a necessary change for Apple to keep up with the trend of thinner, rounder smartphones and larger screens, while for others, iPhone design should have been kept in the same line as ever.
In this regard, it is difficult to say which one is the best, after all it is a very personal matter and directly depends on the user's taste. If you like the traditional look of iPhone, the SE should be perfect, but if you like a more minimalist and modern feel, iPhone 6S may be the best option.
Though no better than premium Android smartphones, the iPhone 6S camera has finally managed to reach the level of quality that Apple always strives to achieve in its products. With 12 megapixels on the rear camera and 5 megapixels on the front, this is the best iPhone for those who really want to take quality photos.
Fortunately, iPhone SE is not far behind, as it has exactly the same rear camera as the iPhone 6S. The problem is that the front is the same as the iPhone 6, being 1.2 megapixels. In this regard, those who love to take selfies should prefer the iPhone 6S.
The battery of a smartphone is always a deciding factor for consumers and in this case can surprise many people. Technically, we know that the iPhone SE has a 1642 mAh battery, while the iPhone 6S has a 1715 mAh battery.
That alone would make us believe that the iPhone 6S wins in terms of battery, but the truth is it has already been bought that the battery life of the iPhone SE is much better. Although both offer the same talk time (approximately 14 hours), iPhone SE allows the user to surf the internet for 13 hours versus 10 hours on the iPhone 6S. If you want a very reliable battery charge for everyday use, the small iPhone is the best option.
Fortunately, when it comes to performance, you'll get the same performance on both devices. This is possible thanks to the A9 chip processor and 2 GB of RAM, which are present in both handsets.
In fact, iPhone SE can be expected to be even more efficient because it has a smaller, lower-resolution screen, which requires far less processing power.
Like design, the display is another very noticeable difference between Apple's two smartphones. While the iPhone 6S can be purchased with a screen of just 4 inches and a resolution of 1136 x 640 pixels, the iPhone 6S has a 4.7 inch display with a resolution of 1334 x 750 pixels.
As you can see, iPhone SE's resolution is much lower, but it doesn't matter that much in the end result. Considering the screen size and resolution, we ended up with exactly the same pixel density per inch on both devices: 326 dpi. This means you will get the same resolution in both because of the size difference, a good way to make SE cheaper without making your screen look uglier.
6. 3D Touch
Despite what was expected, iPhone SE will not bring the 3D Touch feature that Apple introduced in the iPhone 6S last year. Since this function is not yet as important or widespread in use, it may not be missed by consumers, but it is still disappointing when we see the other similarities of the two smartphones.
It is likely that Apple has excluded 3D Touch to make iPhone SE cheaper and more accessible to the public it wants. If you make a point of having all the latest Apple features on your device, it's best to stick with the iPhone 6S yourself.
Starting from a technical question, it is worth mentioning the exact dimensions of each device. While the new iPhone SE is 123.8 mm high, 58.6 mm wide and 7.6 mm thick, the iPhone 6S is larger and thinner at 138.3 mm high, 67.1 mm wide. and only 7.1 mm thick.
In terms of weight, the iPhone SE is lighter and has only 113 grams against the 143 grams of iPhone 6S. In this regard, there is no better model than the other and it really depends on what you prefer in everyday use.
As we are already used to, the iPhone 6S has different storage options, offering 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB of internal memory space. Slightly more limited, iPhone SE has 16GB and 64GB versions, which can be disappointing for those who need plenty of storage.
Still, the most annoying is the lack of the 32 GB middle ground that Apple used to offer, which is no longer available on any current iPhone. Given how large files and applications are nowadays, it's hard to imagine that 16 GB is enough to use your smartphone normally.
Because it was announced on the same day as the official release of iOS 9.3, iPhone SE will come with this version of the factory direct operating system. Of course, iOS 9.3 is also available for iPhone 6S, but you must update it manually to use it.
Not that this is a problem, as both devices should receive the same iOS updates in the future, considering they have the same processor.
Finally, we have the important issue of price, which is still one of the most decisive when buying a new smartphone. In this case, the most basic (6 GB) iPhone 6S can be purchased for $ 649, while the same iPhone SE model can be purchased for "just" $ 399.
Here in Brazil, you can find the iPhone 6S in the average of 3, 500 reais, which leads us to believe that the SE may end up being a much more viable option for those who always wanted an Apple smartphone here.
