Know the differences between Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge

Samsung has finally unveiled its new mobile devices, the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge. Of course, besides getting the attention of consumers, smartphones have raised some doubts about their main differences. If you are also curious to know the news of the two handsets and which suits you best, be sure to check our comparison below!

1. Design

The design and overall look of the two smartphones is very similar, and the Galaxy S7 Edge looks like a simple larger version of the S7 in this regard. Compared to its predecessors, it is noted that Samsung preferred not to change much that was already working and it is even difficult to differentiate them from the Galaxy S6 if you do not pay attention.

What we noticed is that the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge have received clear design improvements. The handsets feature a metal back, Gorilla Glass 4 technology display (to prevent scratches and scratches), a smaller camera, water resistance and micro SD card slot. Of course, as last year, the biggest difference from the Edge (besides size) is the slight curves on the sides of the screen, which end up being quite functional.

2. Display

The Galaxy S7 has a 5.1 inch display, while the S7 Edge offers 5.5 inches. Still, both are AMOLED screens with the same resolution, 2, 560 x 1, 960 pixels. The biggest difference between them is the curves on the sides of the Galaxy S7 Edge screen, as we mentioned in the previous topic.

Although it seems like a mere aesthetic detail, the truth is that these curves add extra functionality. While the Galaxy S7's display acts like a normal touch screen, the Egde S7 uses curves so you can add shortcuts to your favorite apps, your contacts, news, weather information, etc. This is certainly an aspect that makes all the difference and you should consider before buying your smartphone.

3. Android

Not surprisingly, both devices will ship with Android Marshmallow already installed, but Samsung still insists on adding its own modifications to the system. Overall, the biggest differences between this version of Android are in the interface and some native Samsung apps and features.

Of course, with the extra possibilities of the Galaxy S7 Edge, the company ended up adding a few more features to its software, but nothing that will compromise its performance.

4. Battery

This is probably the biggest difference between the two handsets, while while the Galaxy S7 has a 3, 000 mAh battery, the Galaxy S7 Edge offers a 3, 600 mAh battery.

It is possible that Samsung did this so that the S7 Edge offered the same battery life as the S7, given that its screen is larger and should drain more power. Since the device has not yet been released or tested, it is hard to tell how the two devices really work in this respect, but it is expected to work well during a day of use.

5. Camera

In addition to the camera lens thickness being much thinner and more pleasing, they have also improved the technical aspects of predecessor smartphones. In both the S7 and S7 Edge, we have a 12 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front camera.

They have some features only found in professional cameras and are still much better in low light environments. If the camera of the Galaxy S6 was already considered one of the best of Android, it seems that the S7 has everything to stand out among competitors.

6. Performance

Finally, what matters most to many consumers who prefer premium smartphones: performance. In this case, there is not much difference between the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge, which is understandable since the focus is not on one being better than the other.

They have a Snapdragon 820 processor and 4 GB of RAM, enough to accomplish any task without suffering slow or annoying crashes. No matter which model you choose, you'll have a smooth, smooth use with your smartphone.
