Learn how to make your Google Pixel waterproof

Despite the many features revealed in Google Pixel, the first smartphone produced by Google itself does not have a function common to most cell phones available on the market: water resistance. However, it is not necessary to protect it from any source of liquid. Users of the new Android phone have already devised ways to make Google Pixel waterproof, just like Pixel XL. See below for the various methods invented to protect the device.

The obvious way: buy a waterproof case

If your phone does not have the function, it is obviously even more necessary to choose a waterproof case, which helps Google Pixel not be damaged in any water accidents with the device.

One of the brands that have this type of protection is Lifeproof FRE, which, in addition to water protection, also protects devices against falls and dust. The brand is already sold in Brazil and is also available in models for iPhone, iPad Mini and Samsung Galaxy smartphones.

Find a cover that fits your Google Pixel perfectly and enjoy this new layer of protection. We agree that waterproof covers are not really very pretty, their design is usually fully functional. If this bothers you, consider putting it on its cover only when leaving the house on rainy days, going to the pool, the beach, or when doing other activities that may endanger the device.

Make your Google Pixel waterproof… by bagging it!

If one case is not enough, how about bagging your smartphone? Commonly seen in coastal areas and used for boating, the disadvantage of placing the phones in this type of waterproof bag is that the usability of the device is sacrificed, as using the touch screen becomes much more difficult.

Still, wearing this type of cover is a good way to make Google Pixel waterproof, especially in places where chances are more likely, such as beaches or swimming pools. This tip may still end up being useful during rainy days.

Avoid some practices to take less risks

Some customs may put our smartphones at risk, especially those without such protection as Google Pixel. Because of this, it is advisable not to take certain risks that we go through daily. For example, avoid taking your phone out of your pocket to check for new messages during rainy days. Pixel is not so sensitive that some raindrops do some real damage, but to avoid major problems, we recommend that you wait for a covered spot to check your WhatsApp.

Another recommendation is to always keep it in front pockets or purses. As the smartphone is out of sight, it is common to forget that it is in a back pocket. What can happen is, when you lift or lower your pants, your phone will eventually fall out of your pocket, hit the floor or, even worse, end up in a toilet or a puddle. We do not want to lose the phone and still become a joke, correct?

The third and last recommendation is for those who, even following these steps, ended up with their wet cell phone. Our tip is to put it to dry as quickly as possible to prevent water from damaging any components. Use light cloths or even the sleeve of your shirt to clean the wet. However, do not use items such as dryers, as the heat emitted by the appliance and evaporation of water may render the components brittle.

If your Google Pixel gets wet, turn off your device and remove any connections, especially the charger right away. Do not shake your smartphone to make it dry faster, as this may cause water to enter even closer (and critical to the operation) of the smartphone. What you can do is put it in a dry pack of silica bags, the ones you usually find when buying camera lenses or even some medicine boxes.

Some say that putting your smartphone in a compartment with dry white rice has the same effect as silica bags. However, the problem is that some grain may end up stuck in one of the device's inputs, which would not help the situation at all, although this is unlikely.

Definitely do not put your Google Pixel to dry in the sun, it may cause it to suffer permanent damage due to overheating, especially related to the life of the device and battery life. If nothing works even after drying the appliance completely, consider taking it to an authorized service center to see if anything can be done to get it back.
