Refunding Android Apps on Google Play

Sometimes it can be difficult to know if an application is of good quality or if it works well specifically with your device before you download it and start using it. If it is free, there is not much problem and just uninstall the application in question. The real problem happens when you paid for that app and you're at a loss for something you can't use or just didn't like. Fortunately, Android apps can be refunded slightly more simply if you purchased from the Google Play store. Check out the article below to learn more!

Asking for Android app refunds

The first thing to note about this is that refunding Android apps is guaranteed for up to two after you make the purchase. After that period, it is much harder to get your money back, but there is still the possibility.

If you purchased an app and found a reason to return it within two hours of purchase, the process is quite simple.

Open the Google Play app on your Android and drag the screen to the right to see a window of options. Among them, look for and click on “My Account” where you can see details about payment methods, possible subscriptions and your purchase history.

Among the first items in your history, you'll find the app you want to return and see the "Refund" option clearly visible.

By clicking on this option, Android will warn you that the app in question will be uninstalled if the refund is actually made. Click "Yes" to proceed.

After that, the app will be automatically uninstalled and the money paid back where it came from, either for your Google Play balance or your credit card, for example.

You can do this with any app you regret buying, but it's important to mention that this only applies to the first time you purchased the app in question. If you buy it again after that, you won't be able to get the money back. Obviously this serves to prevent possible scams.

If you purchased an app and regret after more than two hours, the process gets more complicated and there is no refund guarantee. Still, there is something you can do if you really want the money back: talk directly to the app developer.

You can go to the app page and see additional information to find the developer or support email (if the company behind the app is large).

With this, simply send a message explaining the problem you had with the app and saying that you would like the refund of the amount paid. The decision is entirely up to the app developers in this case, and you might not even get a response.

There is also the downside that it would probably be necessary to send the email in English, a clear disadvantage for those unaware of the language. Still, it's the only way to get your money back in such cases.
