How to add a virtual button on iPhone and iPad

With the arrival of iOS 10, it was possible to notice that many changes were implemented in the system, and some are not so pleasant. One of the most noticeable is the way you now need to press the home button to unlock the iPhone and iPad instead of simply dragging your finger across the screen. This was done so that other functions could be added, but it's a bit inconvenient if you consider the ease with this button often breaks or gives you overuse problems. Fortunately, you can add a virtual button to your device to avoid wearing out the real one. To learn how to do this, just check out our tips below!

Adding the virtual button on iOS

This virtual button can be added on any iPhone or iPad, regardless of the model or version of iOS installed. It can also serve different functions, but today we will focus especially on replacing the physical button of Apple devices.

To get started, open the "Settings" on your iPhone or iPad and click the "General" tab. Then browse and click the "Accessibility" option on the new screen.

Among the different new options that appear, you must click on “AssistiveTouch”, which will be disabled by default.

To enable it, simply click the button next to it. This done, the virtual button will automatically appear on the screen, with some native functions already added.

You can change it by clicking on the “Customize Main Menu” option, you can use the button just to go to the home screen if you prefer.

This way you no longer have to use the physical button and will prevent its natural wear. Of course you can use it as often as you like, and this scheme works more as an alternative. If you wish, you can also deactivate the virtual button at any time by going back to the AssistiveTouch menu.
