How to hide WhatsApp conversations

WhatsApp is one of the most widely used chat apps in the world, but that doesn't mean it is the most secure or private. In fact, anyone who picks up your phone and opens the app can check your messages with any contact. Of course there are ways to block the app, but it may be easier to simply hide WhatsApp conversations. This can be done relatively easily, as you can see in the tutorial below.

Hide WhatsApp Conversations

It is worth mentioning that the tutorial was performed on an Android smartphone, so some details may differ for those who use an iPhone. Still, the settings are the same and work in both versions of the app.

To get started, open the app on your smartphone and look for the conversation you want to hide.

Then click on the conversation and keep your finger pressed for a few seconds to select. You can do more than one conversation if you prefer.

You should now click the "File" icon at the top right of the screen.

This will make the conversation archived, ie hidden from the home page of your chats.

To check out the hidden conversation, scroll to the bottom of your conversation page. There you will see the option “View archived conversations” so click on it.

You will find previously archived conversations and can interact with them as you wish.

If you select an archived conversation, you can still click the same icon as before to bring it back to the main screen.

You can do this with any of your WhatsApp chats and they won't be deleted permanently.
