How to play YouTube videos with Android screen off

The YouTube app is very useful, but there are some features that could be included for a long time, such as the ability to play videos in the background or with the smartphone screen off. Of course, most videos are meant to be watched in the normal way, but there are many others whose audio ends up being more interesting, such as songs or podcasts posted there. Fortunately, there's a very simple way to accomplish this on Android, as you can check out with our tips below!

YouTube videos with screen off

As we mentioned, the official YouTube app can't offer options for you to listen to background or screen-off video content, but there are ways around it. The simplest and most effective way is to install the Firefox browser app on your Android. You can download it from this link.

With the browser installed on your smartphone, select it and open a YouTube page on it. Before searching for a video, click on the browser settings icon, as highlighted below:

Among the options that appear, click "Request desktop site, " which will cause Firefox to open the regular version of the YouTube site instead of the mobile version.

Then look for the video you want and let it play normally.

You can now go to your Android home screen or turn off your screen so the video will keep playing the same way.

To stop video playback, simply open the browser and pause it there. You can repeat this procedure with any video you want by simply opening them in desktop mode when you need them.
